Born in Alabama, I grew up in a small (very small) town in Indiana, eventually earning a science degree in college. My journey has taken me across the country from coast to coast--I've truly seen it all. I am fortunate to have a wonderfully supportive husband who can almost suppress his eye-rolls, and two amazing children. â€‹Our latest move has given me a chance retire early and pick up writing again.

Several years ago I started channel surfing for something new. I became captivated by a historical K-drama series which opened my eyes to a new experience. Now, I'm hooked on Thai BL, Korean dramas, K-pop and manga.

I began playing piano at a young age  and won the Hagamann Award music scholarship for college. But my fondest memories are from high school marching band. I loved the thrill of weekend competitions and Friday football games late at night with frost in the air, showcasing our months of hard work. I loved moving in formation, creating designs on the field with the melody. Watching K-pop videos reminds me of those days. Their talent and choreography is truly remarkable.

Bringing together my love of history, cultures, books, and music re-lit my creative spark, leading me to imagine how my favorite K-pop group would evolve behind the scenes of their public persona. Thus, my series Insatiable7.  While I won't reveal my favorite group, they are 3rd gen and probably not who you would expect!

Thanks to my wonderful Korean pen pal, I'm learning so much about Korea and Seoul. He has been incredibly patient with me, and any mistakes I've made are purely my own where I've refused to listen to his teachings! Most locations in my books are real, except for 'the Campus', which I envision as an expansive walled university style place  within a bustling city.

My Writing Story

I've been passionate about books my entire life. I used to 'borrow' my step-mother's romance novels (she had PILES everywhere). Once I finished them, I'd put them back the following weekend and take more - ensuring the piles looked untouched. :) I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this started in early high school. My favorites were English historical romance - the juicy stuff. In my senior year, I discovered the mother of a guy I was dating was one of my favorite authors!  Sadly, we broke up (me and the guy) and I can't remember her pen name. I wish I would have talked to her more and gotten her autograph!

My high school English teacher would say I most decidedly did NOT have a knack for writing!  More than once I received a 30% (or lower) on a paper. In my defense, book reports and essays were not my strengths and I can't BS something I don't believe in. I have a unique writing style that did not mesh well with academia. I love sentence fragments and starting sentences with unconventional words like and  or but. School papers didn't allow for imagination.

My first fans were friends who read my stories, printed on dot-matrix paper, they discreetly hid behind their folders on their music stands in band class.

In college, a fantastic professor understood my writing style and encouraged me to continue. But... I chose a different career path and honestly forgot about writing for a long time.

Fast forward 20 years, four moves, three career changes, a husband, two kids and two dogs later......I've started writing again. I'm definitely a bit rusty, but writing is like riding a bike. Stories have always been in the back of my mind and I am re-learning how to put them into words.

Thank goodness for a dictionary and my editor...one day I'll learn how to spell!!!!!

If I can write, so can you. Honestly, the hardest part for me was believing in myself and not letting Mrs. H stand in my mental space. That and finding an editor. I'm in love with mine.  She is my Jerry Maguire!  She. Completes. Me. :)
